Guatemala has 37 volcanoes, three of them which are active. Pacaya Volcano is by far one of the most impressive volcanic landscapes in the region. It rises 2,552m (8,373ft) above the sea level and has been active since 1965. Today it is the most visited volcano by tourists. The trail goes around Pacaya until reaching a clearing (about 1.5hr hike) where you can see a valley of lava rock. Depending on the activity you may see lava rivers in movement.
